will lead
international effort on progressive collapse
Dripping Springs, Texas, March 23 -- Protection Engineering Consultants managing principal Kirk Marchand represented the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) at ASCE’s "Progressive Collapse Mitigation: Practical Analysis Methods & Proven Solutions" seminar in Chicago on March 23, presenting an overview of the new DoD criteria for progressive collapse. Marchand has also been selected to chair an international committee of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI/ASCE) to focus efforts on progressive collapse guidance development for codes and standards. The selection was made as Marchand attended a National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) meeting on March 16 in Washington, DC, to discuss NIBS efforts to develop a progressive collapse evaluation guide.
