SEC principal's paper on progressive collapse published in ASCE journal
Spring Branch, Texas, Dec. 15 -- A paper co-authored by PEC managing principal Kirk Marchand appears in the November issue of ASCE’s "Journal of the Performance of Constructed Facilities."
Titled "Static Equivalency in Progressive Collapse Alternate Path Analysis: Reducing Conservatism while Retaining Structural Integrity," the paper illustrates that the GSA- and UFC-recommended multiplier used in static analysis of dynamic inertial effects may be conservative, resulting in structural designs less efficient than may be otherwise achievable.
The paper was prepared along with co-authors Peter Ruth and Dr. Eric Williamson.
