Protection Engineering Consultants
adds glass test facility at Austin location
Austin, Texas, February 10 -- Protection Engineering Consultants engineers Aldo McKay, Carrie Davis, L.J. Nelson and Matt Barsotti, in cooperation with PPG Industries, have developed, designed, fabricated and operationally tested a water based glass testing facility at the PEC offices in Austin, Texas.
The glass test tank, low-speed and high-volume pump system and digital data acquisition systems support highly accurate static tests to failure of standard commercial and developmental (high strength) glass, retrofitted glass and laminated glass assemblies. PEC engineers have successfully generated data for probabilistic fracture based glass response models as well as membrane response models for retrofitted and laminated glass systems. This data has supported further development of PPG high strength glass and retrofit systems.
