PEC awarded continuing SBEDS development work
Austin, Texas, July 22 -- Protection Engineering Consultants engineers, led by Senior Principal Dr. Chuck Oswald, have been awarded continuing development work on Single Degree of Freedom Blast Effects Design and Analysis (SBEDS) software, with a projected V5 release in 2011.
Developed by Dr. Oswald and distributed by the US Army Corps of Engineers, SBEDS is an Excel-based tool for design of structural components subjected to airblast using single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) methodology. The 2011 release will include improvements in design of retrofits, including polymer sheet and spray-on wall applications. A significant advancement will incorporate glazing response into the tools. GFPM glass models and improved pvb interlayer response models will be combined with existing SDOF routines for single lite glass response and new MDOF models for IG response.
