Design Requirements for Mitigation of Progressive Collapse:
A Hands-On Experience With DoD and GSA Requirements
Nov. 2-4, 2010 | San Antonio, Texas
Protection Engineering Consultants invites engineers and practitioners to register now for its new three-day short course in design requirements for the mitigation of progressive collapse according to DoD and GSA criteria.
Taught by authors of the DoD criteria (David Stevens, Ph.D., P.E. and Aldo E. McKay, P.E.) and an expert practitioner in designs that follow both the DoD and GSA approaches (Mark Waggoner, P.E.), the course will provide background on the development of the DoD and GSA criteria, examination of direct and derived requirements of the criteria, and hands-on experience with Computers and Structures, Inc.’s SAP software for static linear through dynamic nonlinear modeling and analysis. Instructors and participants will work selected comprehensive design examples incorporating alternate path analysis (GSA and DoD), tie force approaches (DoD) and enhanced local resistance (DoD) methods.
Hosted in historic San Antonio, Texas, the course will provide participants opportunities to gain relevant knowledge and skills, meet experts in the field, make and renew acquaintances with professional colleagues, and enjoy the warmth of Texas hospitality at a special Wednesday evening dinner and social event on the city's beautiful Riverwalk.
