Protection Engineering Consultants (PEC) is a unique and diverse small-business engineering firm. Protection Engineering Consultants, LLC (PEC) is looking for a creative and motivated structural engineer who can support our Protective Design business area with blast-resistant building design projects and is also interested in applied research for structural and mechanical engineering applications. The candidate should have solid industry experience and/or academic coursework in structural design (steel, concrete, and masonry), structural dynamics, numerical analysis, and computational modeling. While experience in designing structures for extreme loads is preferred, PEC will train you in this area. Experience with finite element analysis (LS-DYNA or similar), structural analysis software (SAP2000 or similar), AutoCAD, and/or Revit is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate would have familiarity with protective design guidance documents for military and government facilities, such as UFC 4-010-01, UFC 3-340-02, the Interagency Security Committee Risk Management Process (ISC RMP), the U.S. Veteran Affairs Physical Security and Resiliency Design Manual (PSRDM), and others.
Your role initially will be to provide support and lead individual tasks for our ongoing protective design efforts. You will also be required to interact with clients and manage small tasks or projects. We will provide opportunities and encouragement for you to develop your technical skills and to grow into project management, marketing, and business development, as your interests dictate.
- MS in Structural Engineering.
- 2 to 5 years of structural engineering experience related to structural dynamics. Direct protective design experience is preferred but not required.
- PE and/or SE licensure is preferred but not required.
- Academic course work or industry experience in structural design (steel, concrete, and masonry), structural dynamics, numerical analysis, and computational modeling
- Ability to communicate verbal and written technical information clearly.
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. citizenship.
