Protection Engineering Consultants has developed several blast design engineering tools for government and industry. Two widely distributed and used tools are the Single-Degree-of-Freedom Blast Effects Design Spreadsheet (SBEDS), and the Single-Degree-of-Freedom Blast Effects Design Spreadsheet for Windows (SBEDS-W) distributed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. We also have contributed fundamental load and blast response algorithms in support of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s Vulnerability Assessment – Protection Option (VAPO).
Our strength is developing robust algorithms for complex load and response problems. We often incorporate those algorithms into standalone software programs that we develop in-house, or we assist clients in incorporating those algorithms into existing code and platforms. We’ve worked with many government clients, but have also worked with commercial clients, adopting public codes for their proprietary usage.
Our staff has decades of engineering design and research experience that we leverage in the development of tools and software. Because of this, we are uniquely able to approach the problem from an engineer’s point of view and can tailor the solution for efficiency and ease of use.
