Thomas graduated from the University of Oklahoma in May 2020 and joined PEC shortly thereafter. He supports design projects for blast resistant structures and building components in new construction, as well as assessment of existing facilities for potential retrofit or renovation to resist explosive threats. He is experienced in the use of MATLAB and Mathematica for modeling purposes, and in the application of Revit, RAM Elements, and SBEDS, among other tools, for structural design.
Thomas earned his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 2019 and completed his Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis in 2020. His Master’s research focused on developing devices for seismic mitigation that utilized nonlinear dynamic effects.
Thomas also wrote a technical paper on “Modeling, Characterizing, and Testing a Simple, Smooth Negative-Stiffness Device to Achieve Apparent Weakening” that has been published and can be read here.
