Ben Giddens joined Protection Engineering Consultants (PEC) in June 2020, coming from a career as a consultant for the commercial nuclear power industry. Ben’s background is interdisciplinary, spanning structural, chemical, and software engineering. His project experience includes analysis of fluid systems, rotordynamics, thermal transients, and structural systems subject to both conventional and extreme loading conditions. At PEC, Ben supports the Advanced Technology + Research group with high-fidelity numerical analysis, engineering analytics, and engineering design.
Prior to joining PEC, Ben specialized in the development and application of finite volume analysis software for fluid dynamics. He led a team managing a first-principles solver code, which he used to develop models for industrial process simulation and transient analysis. Ben modeled events such as condensation waterhammer, pump startup, air void effects, and spurious valve actuation.
Ben received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin with highest honors.
